3. Sunday June 26, drove from Salt Lake through the Teton Mountains (scary, but beautiful) 4. Sunday around lunch we arrived in Jackson Hole, WY and checked in at Snake River Lodge and Spa :)
Ok, with that short and sweet summary I will get on with telling you how our wedding actually went. Sunday evening after we arrived in Jackson Hole and checked in we went to meet with Paul Hayden, a local preacher there in Jackson Hole who was going to marry us the following day. The meeting went wonderfully, we talked about our relationship, how the ceremony would go, and so forth. After that we went to Jacksol Square, which is a small "square" that is filled with shops and resturants. I loved that place, my friend, not so much! He hates shopping :) Then after a wonderful steak dinner we headed back to the lodge to get some much needed rest and prepare for the next day. MODAY MORNING.... came way to early! The day I would say "I Do" to the man I despartly wanted to spend the rest of my life with. The thing about getting married with just the two of you is that it is almost like getting ready to go out to eat dinner with another couple. Unlike many wedding stories I have heard, ours was nothing close to the same. When we woke up at 5:30 a.m. I began fixing my hair. At 6 we both went downstairs to eat breakfast, immediatly after that we drove into Jackson Square to get our marriage license. Then back to the lodge we went to finish getting ready. Once we were dressed, we were off to Snake Rive!!! I felt like we were trying to run a race as fast as we were moving through this whole marriage/ceremony thing... I'm not sure we even stopped since we arrived in Jackson Hole! Oh well, about 15 minutes out of town we met up with our photographer, Linda (Swope Mountain Photography). We followed her down some trails to a beautiful spot right off the bank of Snake River. I loved that place. My friend did too. Pastor Paul and his wife were already waiting on us and before I could blink twice, I was standing in front of my best friend exchanging vowels that would last a life time. I cried. He says he didn't ;), but I was watching... VERY CLOSE! Ha. I was so pleased with my wedding, I can truly say I would go do it over again in a heart beat! It was all about US. Not the cake, not the flowers, not the groom who was mad he had to wear a tux... NOTHING! Just me and my best friend. Isn't that what a marriage is all about anyways? Not your family or your friend...just the two of you. I was blessed. As someone once told me, "the reason you get married in the mountains is so you can be closer to God", I agree totally. Such a beautiful place. Such a beautiful wedding. After that we drive into Yellow Stone National Park and spent the day, it was
